We don’t need an architect who draws boxes and walks away. We need one who ships the design and carries the pager.
Techdome is a profitable, product-driven engineering company with 80+ engineers building healthcare, fintech, AI, and SaaS products. Our systems store sensitive patient data and move real money for large user bases. We’re looking for a senior technical leader who thinks of production as the true test of any design and takes responsibility for the result.


What you’ll do

  • Own the architecture: Lead system design, API contracts, data modeling, security, scalability, observability, and cloud spend across our products.
  • Keep systems reliable: Be accountable for uptime, latency, and throughput as our user base grows.
  • Design for security from day one: Build safe handling of PHI and payment flows, with compliance built into the architecture rather than added later.
  • Drive cloud-native delivery: Run MERN-based platforms on AWS, GCP, or Azure with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and proper secrets management.
  • Make the hard calls: Decide between monolith and microservices, choose event-driven patterns, evaluate third-party integrations, and weigh build against buy.
  • Fix what’s broken: Step into production incidents, trace root causes, and resolve performance, scaling, and availability problems.
  • Set the standards: Create reference architectures, reusable patterns, and practical guidelines that 80+ engineers can follow.
  • Stay hands-on: Write code, lead design reviews, and review pull requests regularly.
  • Grow leaders: Mentor senior engineers and help build the next group of tech leads.

What you bring

  • 8+ years in software engineering, with a track record of owning architecture decisions
  • Experience running a live production system with 100,000+ users (required)
  • A history of diagnosing and resolving serious scale and performance bottlenecks
  • Strong hands-on skills in Node.js and React (MERN preferred)
  • Solid architecture experience on AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Experience in healthcare, fintech, payments, insurance, or another high-security domain
  • Deep knowledge of distributed systems, API design, databases, and reliability engineering
  • The ability to explain and defend your technical choices to engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike

Nice to have

  • Direct experience with HIPAA, PHI handling, or PCI-DSS compliance
  • Working knowledge of Stripe, Braintree, or tokenization
  • Experience with high-availability, event-driven, or microservices architectures
  • Background in SaaS, consulting, or a venture studio
  • Daily use of AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot
